2 Samuel 2:12-3:39

God’s Kingdom is Coming

Abner knew God’s intention for the kingdom.

We know many of God’s intentions for his kingdom.

God’s Kingdom is Resisted

Abner chose to fight against God’s plan for his people.

Where in life do you actively resist what you know to be God’s plan?

God’s Kingdom Seems Expedient

David received God’s strength while Abner sought his own strength.

When he can’t get his way, Abner changes his tactics but not his motive.

Self-centered cooperation with God is still self-centered.

God’s Kingdom or My Kingdom?

Abner cooperated with God’s kingdom only when all else failed—and likely still from wrong motives!

God would have us to seek first his kingdom and let him take care of the rest.

Joab selfishly used his position for personal vengeance.

God’s Kingdom is Coming

No amount of earthly opposition to God’s kingdom will prevail; God’s king will reign over God’s people!
